Axel Heiberg
A team of four skiers recently completed
a six week unsupported traverse of
Axel Heiberg Island north of Resolute
Bay, Nunavut. Their route crossed
many of the ice caps and icefields
of this island. Hence the expedition
name, Axel Heiberg Haute Ski Traverse
2005. The original Haute Route is
a world famous high ski route in the
Alps from Chamonix France to Saas
Fee Switzerland.
From
Sweetwater to Saltwater
Taking place this summer is the expedition
From Sweetwater to Saltwater that
was postponed from 2004. Ingeborg
Jean and Karl Mattson have undertaken
a journey by canoe that began at their
doorstep on Sweetwater Road in Rolla,
BC and finishes on the Arctic Ocean
in Tuktoyuktuk, NT.
Simon

Graeme and Lynda Magor, accompanied
by their daughters Keziah (7) and
Kira (3), completed their stay on
Devon Island for their expedition

Centennial Mountain Expedition
In honour of the 100th anniversary
of Alberta's founding in 1905, this
team of eight skiers plan a traverse
of the provincial boundary along the
great divide from the US/Alberta/BC
border to Willmore Wilderness Area.
