The Canadian Environment Awards Citation of Lifetime Achievement is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and made an outstanding contribution to environmental protection.

The candidate's initiative and leadership on environmental issues may take the form of hands-on work, promoting environmental awareness or education, developing environmental policy or pursuing ground-breaking environmental research. The candidate will be distinguished by his or her long-term commitment and dedication to environmental protection. The recipient will have attained recognition at a national level for environmental work and must be living at the time of nomination.

The recipient of this honour will be chosen by the Canadian Environment Awards. It is not mandated that this award be presented every year.
