Canadian Environment Awards 2008
Community Awards |
Who is eligible?
The Community Awards program of the Canadian
Environment Awards (CEA) celebrates local or regional
projects, programs and initiatives that protect, restore or preserve
the environment. Individuals and groups that are engaged in environmental
endeavours at the grassroots level in Canada are eligible for
nomination. Nominees positioned within national environmental
organizations will be considered only if their projects or activities
have specific local or regional impact and results. All nominees
should be active participants in or leaders of projects or activities
that have community support and are ethical, environmentally sound
and solution-oriented.
Nominees may include not-for-profit environmental organizations,
representatives and employees of not-for-profit environmental organizations,
volunteers for the environment and people or groups pioneering environmental
initiatives in their communities or places of employment. If the
nominee is an individual engaged in a research-based or hands-on
environmental vocation, however, he or she must demonstrate an exceptional
commitment and outstanding contribution and have produced tangible
results for the environment that extend beyond the boundaries of
his or her paid work or job description.
While the CEA values and respects all environmental endeavour, for-profit
enterprises will not be considered for these awards.
Neither the employees of Canadian
Geographic nor those of the
sponsors of the Canadian Environment Awards 2008 are eligible to
nominate candidates or receive these awards.
